The year 2012 was a very good year for us. MapsWithMe became multiplatform application and got new important features. The number of users has grown 10 times comparing to the one back in 2011, and what is most important, we met thousands of new friends and fans.
Here are the most memorable moments of 2012:
- February, 17 - The first Lite version for Android released.
- April, 12 - The Pro version, which added Offline Search, was released for iOS.
- April, 16 - MapsWithMe team won the first prize in the Startup Monthly conference in Vilnius. The prize was a 9 week business acceleration trip to Silicon Valley, which we truly enjoyed.
- August, 1 - We launched the Pro version for Android with the same features as on iOS.
- October, 26 - Android Pro version got Map Rotation; iOS received it a month later.
- October, 30 - MapsWithMe became #1 in Top 100 Paid and #2 in Top 100 Free within Navigation category on the Amazon AppStore for Kindle Fire.
- November, 1 - We added Bookmarks in iOS.
- December, 3 - We released the first promo video with invaluable help from our friends at Derwish.tv.
The next year will be even better! Our map will become more useful, will look nicer and faster. Stay tuned :)
Thank you for being with us and for your invaluable feedback and reviews! This helps us better understand your needs and inspires us to create the Best Offline Maps ever!
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

Good program, but still waiting for bookmarks (android pro).
ReplyDeleteAlso there's something wrong with zoom: it sometimes displays elements (i.e. gas stations) and zooming in hides them. You have to zoom in/out/pan to see if there are POIs in your area.
And there's something wrong with GPS: it starts by finding the right position, then switches to first know position (in my case was the hotel), and the arrow turns as I walk, but in the wrong place. Then after say, 5 minutes, it jumps to the correct position. Close/open the app and you are again in the first seen position (at the same time other GPS apps work ok and show correct location/direction/speed).
Also magetic compass indication would be useful.
Bye
Thank you for such detailed feedback. We are finishing bookmarks feature for Android, and have started tasks on POI issues when zooming. GPS bug is very interesting, we'll try to investigate it further. If you can record any logs from your device, when GPS is buggy, and send them to bugs@mapswithme.com, our development team would be really happy!
DeleteBy Magnetic compass indication you mean some arrow on the screen which is always points to North, right?
